Default My engine sounds like a ticking time bomb.....

Tonight, I was listening to the engine running with the hood up. Approaching the car after it sat warming up for a few mins, I heard a rapid 'ticking' noise. Easily audible from 10 feet infront of the car w/ hood propped. Very consistent, sounds almost as though it's coming from under or behind the Y-pipe (hard to pinpoint at night), at about 3-4 ticks/sec. Consistently. What the heck could it be?

Anyone else hear this? Normal? Going to explode?

TIA

Default LOL.....I hope for both you and I that it's nothing......

funny thing is, mine doesn't do it in the cold. Winter just passed and I never heard that noise. So why in the spring? Strange.....I think I'll get it checked out the same time as my 2 year old oil leak (for the 4th time).

Thanks

Default Mine does it all the time. I was told "it's our agressive cams" by a fellow AWorlder.

I've also heard that you can get rid of it by changing your oild weight.

I can't tell you anything for sure though

Default I think I did something kinda bad.......

OK guys, is it a big no-no to hose off the engine compartment? Cause I did that today, and now my car is giving me some funky electrical problems! The alarm keeps going off by itself, and now when I press the 'LOCK' button on the key fob, it no longer gives me the little 'beep' signal from the horn that it used to. What the heck is going on?

TIA for any insight

Default I think I'm still at the paranoia stage........

But my car's been pretty reliable too. Besides the ignition coil replacement. And oil leak. And blown speakers.

But dude, any insight into this electrical problem ? WTF is going on??

It's ok to hose off just need to watch where you spray and how hard. I have washed my engine before.
