NE1 purchased a different brake vac-booster manifold line to eliminate the
Y to the accordian hose? Audi lists an alternate for our engine(guessing A box hose) but not sure if it has the quick connect fitting like the newer manifolds have('01.5). It is a direct connect between the brake booster and intake manifold w/o the extra line...

It likely does not. On the older manifolds it is a slide on connection as...

Hence, the ease of using the Allroad manifold instead of the 02 S4 mani. with the clip on connections. Just a solid hose. That's also why AWE plugs the hole in the accordian/silicon hose. Cuz us older Sfizzours don't have that! :-)

Lol, thx Gary. I found a direct hose that I may try - supposed to have a quick connect
fitting on the mani side... that is if it doesn't cost too much. My M has the two Y connectors(brake booster, mani, and accordian) and I was looking for a sano way to remove the extra leg vs the plug route with the boost/vac fluctuations and all.

Quick version...lets see if I can do this right...
Remove Y-pipe...remove fuel rail...remove old manifold...Cut off old spider piping from top pass side. Shown in pic...save black air release valve.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/42872/picture_029.jpg">
Remove green air release/check valve on pass side. Buy new hose...uh, part # coming write up (buy 2 for cleaner install, and you'll see later)Actually you can see the part # in the pic...but I'll post it in the write up.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/42872/picture_039.jpg">
New hose to go to manifold...taking place of F-hose on older cars (also used in rear of mani.)
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/42872/picture_041.jpg">
Put manifold in with some other little quirks that will be in the write up. Use 1/2" fuel line from top passenger side of spider assy. valve to the air check valve removed from F-hose under old mani. Use black plastic 1/2" male to male connector into valve. Out of valve use 2nd hose ordered from before. Reason for this..this hose flares down from 1/2" size needed out of valve to 1/4" size nipple on manifold as shown in photo. I'm still waiting for my second hose from dealer. In the meantime used a ghetto rig...

Ghetto rig(brass fittings, 1/2 "male to 1/4" male downsizing the fuel line. Stock hose does this so two less fittings and less chance of leak.)
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/42872/picture_064.jpg">
The quick write up..put everything back in, in reverse order. FPR goes in same way...uh the EGT sensor plugs also have to be mounted differently...but very easy overall. Whew!!!
