Default Need Radar Detector help

Given that my S4 will be here in about 4 weeks, what is the best radar detector that I can get. I would really like something that can be installed in the dash so that it is out of the way. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Default Valentine One is the BEST

However, they are wicked expensive.....fortunately mine was a gift. There is an option to install them directly into the car's electric system with concealed display modules to hide their presence in the vehicle. Go here for more info:

Default Two Choices...

In-Dash = K40 and cost is $1000+
On Window = Valentine 1 and cost is $399

My father in-law bought the K40 for his M-Roadster. He was going to puchase the Valentine 1 (V1) but I said "If your going this far you might as well...". He also wanted the laser diffuser, which the K40 offers.

I bought the Valentine 1 and it is the best I have owned to date. I have had Cobra, Passport and Bel.

If cash is an issue then go with the Valentine. It is well worth the $399 and saved me 3 times on Memorial Day weekend. The range is incredible, and does not go off for just anything...

Thanks for the info. Does the K-40 have more range than the Valentine? Is it much better or is it just more expensive because it is dash installed? What is the laser diffuser? Any other differences between them? Also, is there a web site where I can get info on the K-40. Your help is much appreciated

Default Re: Need Radar Detector help

Two best detectors available are K40 and Valentine One. I just purchased a V1 one month ago, and have been extremely satisfied. It is the only detector that will tell you radar DIRECTION. K40 is custom installed in your vehicle and is a muti-sensor, multi-piece unit. It's performance is no better than the V1. V1 is, ideally, a windshield mounted unit (it uses a front and rear antenna, but for $39 or 49, you can get a concealed display unit that routes all the readouts to a small unit you can mount anywhere. Also, V1 is portable, K40 is not. The K40 laser diffuser is a unit that is desguised as a front license plate holder that essntially jams laser guns by emitting some kind of light at some kind of wavelength. Cost: V1=$400 K40=$1000 Diffuser=$340. In my opinion, V1 + Diffuser would be the best combo.

Thanks for the info. I would like to find out more about the $39 display option that you mentioned. You say it routes the display info to a small hidden screen. So you would still have to have the full unit mounted on the windshield. Am I correct? Or can the main unit be hidden as well. Thanks
