Nice $200 paint scrape on the side of my S4. Why are people so damn careless??
I drive to lunch and come back to the office at 1:00 this afternoon. I leave for a meeting at 1:35, and there is a paint scrape on the right side behind the driver side rear wheel. Damn it! Looks like crap with the black sticking out of the silver paint (cuz silver is so fast!). Stopped by the body shop and the bumper repaint is gonna be $200. Nice, but my deductible is $250. I could have spent the $200 on something better, like a V1.
I know this isn't anything compared to others car issues, but damn it really makes me mad how careless people are.

park, get cars license plates that are parked next to you
if there is any damage when you get back and the colors match, send the claim to your insurance company, citing the cars license plate.
Tory
That would be a hit and run

No its not, because there's no witnesses that it was that car...
and not one that parked there after it.
Insurance company couldn't and wouldn't do a thing.<p>--

Get the DingCatcher
Sorry to hear about the scratch, find a good shop.
As for DingCatcher, it uses capacitance to tell when ANYTHING bigger than a mouse touches your car. Then it records a 2 frame/sec video for 45 seconds using a tiny fisheye lens mounted inside right in the middle of the ceiling.
Kinda pricey though at $400<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5325">

Buffing won't do. The paint is scratched off...black plastic showing through...
No one was parked by me before or after I parked there and when I noticed the scratch 40 minutes later. Someone must have parked, scratched and then taken off...
The repairs will be $200 to get the rear bumper painted, which isn't that bad, but stilll $200 is $200

The paint is gone.....really sucks.
I stopped by the body shop, and they touched it up for the weekend, and can get me in on tuesday first thing. I had my A4 front bumper repainted at this shop before, and they do great work. They are recommended by the local Porsche/audi/mercedes dealership, too. It's a small shop...owner and two or three others. Plus they were working on a mercedes and and bmw when I was there today.
$200 is cheap, but I live in Fargo, ND so everything is cheap.
