Default Ok... how the hell do I remove the viscous fan?!?

No, I don't have the "chopstick tool"... not even sure what the hell that is... but, from what I read, many people have gotten this off without it. So, what do I do? The DIY write-ups just say things like, "remove fan - chops sticks not required"... not really a big help ;-)

Thanks in advance for the help.

Default ok, here's what I did:.....basically, I took a huge crescent wrench (after removing the fan part)...

put it on the big nut and started smacking the crap out of the end of the crescent wrench with a mini sledge hammer. IIRC, I needed to put the end of a huge flat head screwdriver into an opening somewhere on it to keep the thing from spinning. It help to have one person keeping the thing from spinning and the other with the crescent wrench and hammer.

Jammed a crowbar in the gear to keep it from moving and then laid into it with a 32mm wrench.
