Default Ok, I STFA and want some opinions on the AWE LWFW...

I have to replace the clutch, and am going to go with an RS4, thinking of a LWFW, but am worried about the clanging (for lack of a better term) in second gear, etc. Would like to hear some current opinions on the subject, so, do you guys with the RS4 clutch and AWE LWFW like the combo?

Sounds like a bucket full of broken metal bits if you lug it in any gear. Who cares - it works.

Anybody know the cause of that noise. Could it be the clutch plate, gear tattle, or both?

What not go with the ECS Stage 3 clutch? Much stronger than an OEM RS4.

Default You NEED to drive one to experience the "chatter" for yourself........it is very dependent on.......

your tastes. I drove one before I bought it (I'm currently using AWE LWFW with an RS4 clutch) - thought I could live with it....now, I'm disappointed with my decision. I'd rather have a stock flywheel in there - I'm thinking about having it pulled out and going back to stock flywheel.

There are times when it's annoying - for example, if you're slowing down and ready to make a turn and you downshift to 2nd while still moving (you know our cars do not like downshifting to first and I never do that unless practically stopped) - you let out the clutch and accelerate slowly like normal after your turn - that's when you get the noise. I really never hear it other times because I'm not that low in the RPMs usually, but just after a turn when driving like a normal human it's definately there.

Again, you need to experience it for yourself. It is something that is not easily described. Also, I suggest more than a 4 minute test drive like I did. Lastly, I might be imagining this, but it seems worse once the car is fully warmed up so make sure you drive for a bit - don't drive hard, just drive normally to see how it affects your daily driving.

Default My car has one and it sounds like a big truck but it revs up real fast.

Overall it's more of a pleasure to drive IMO. It just depends on wether or not you are willing to endure the noise for the performance increase. I occasionally get the "what the hell's wrong with that thing" look from folks. Also the dowel that secures the crank sensor tone ring to the flywheel came out and the tone ring gradually walked on the flywheel retarding my timing. That was *very* difficult to diagnose.
