My first time to put on the tranny outside of the car

Tranny is on a Tranny Jack with 2 axis of rotation

Need something to hold the engine still while I shovel the tranny onto the dowels.

Seems like you may be qualified. I never tried yanking just the tranny. I suppose with enough man-power and a proper tranny jack it'd be easier. I'd definitely attempt it on a lift. But since motor-pulls are relatively uncomplicated and easy for me now I'd feel more comfortable just yanking the bish.
