ESP was an option on 2000s, and standard on 01-02.

I don't think so. As far as I know, only the A6 4.2 and A8 had ESP, and only late production units.

Default No it wasn't. It wasn't offered at all in 2000.
In 2001 it became standard on S4s and an option on A4s.

Default ESP would be located next to your fog light switches (above stereo)....
AFAIK, 2000s just have a blank switch there.
