in for downpipes but knew my readiness codes were fine so figured all would be good.
I've read that in Illinois they basically scan your car for readiness codes and if they are all "OK", then you pass. I had not verified this until today. If you fail, then they try to dyno your car to do the "whiff" test (which they cannot do to a 4wd car in IL - only 2 wheel dynos there)....I have to say, I was somewhat impressed by their operation (haven't kept a car long enough to do a test before) - they scan some bar code on the inside of your door. They knew immediately it was 4wd (I've heard some people have needed to argue in the past with some testers).
Anyway, just a post for the Illinois folks or for anyone who lives in a state where they just check OBD-II as a way of doing emissions.
The one thing worth mentioning for the people who do not know. If you scan your car before going in and clear a code, you might fail if your readiness codes were reset and have not had time to "pass".....make sure you drive around a bit to re-set them (some people say 20 miles, some say 75 miles - I'm not sure).

get out and drive that thing! Well, I guess when you're using a TT P-car as your winter beater.....
you don't put so many miles on the S4!
I'll be keeping this car until it rusts away I think. During my brief stint when I considered selling it, it was virtually impossible to find a buyer willing to consider a car with the mileage. I'm certainly not planning to give it away just because it has high mileage. I've always wondered how many miles a motor will run before it dies if well taken care of - I guess we'll see.
The amount of work I'd need to go through to de-mod and sell it is simply not worth it.
