S-03's in 225/45/17 are already as wide as the pilots at 235/40-17...
I would think if you put S-03 235/40/17's , they would be way to wide for the stock Avus, there for loosing a little precision in the steering (not to mention a Speedo problem). My 225/45/17 S-03's are wide as is...

You lost me...
By wide do you mean tire diameter? Looking at it on tirerack it looks like the 235 is about .4 inches wider in tread (10mm) which is obviously logical. The circumference difference between 235/40 and 225/45 is about 2% (849 rev per mile vs 833), at 100mph your speedo will read 102 with the 235s. The height difference is less than the tread depth and imho immaterial.

I think he means...
the 225 S03s are wide for 225s.
I have them as well, and they are significantly wider than the Pilots or the P6000s. They look like 235s...
