Porterfield Pads on 2001 S4 - who's got them installed?
I called up and they don't seem to know the difference between the 1992 S4, the 2000-20001 S4, and a TT....they are just confused. That makes me a little nervous, but I hear great things about their pads.
HOW MANY PIECES is our pad set?
Thanks

I had the same experience when I called them...
They seemed to think the S4tt was the Audi TT, and the 00 model S4 was the same as the urS4. In any event, our S4's have 8 pads, and you need the expensive kit -- $359 for the R4S or $399 for the R4 track pads.
I didn't end up ordering them, I'm looking into another solution for a track pad right now.

Thanks...Why is this so confusing for them?
I just got off the phone and they are 340 for a set (front and back)
I said "thank you, no"
I guess I'll call Pagid/MTM

That's not a bad price...
R4 or R4S? The prices they show on their website would be $428 for R4S f/r and $518 for R4 f/r. They're offering a discount for buying both?
MTM/Pagid from Hoppen is $320 for just the fronts. I couldn't get anyone from there to return my phone call.

I'm exploring...
a dedicated track pad through BIRA that would be consideraly less expensive. I'll be doing some prototype testing at Watkins Glen.
For street, I'm thinking more along the lines of Mintex Red Box to cut down on all the dust in day-to-day driving.

Yes
It's pretty easy to change the pads (or so I'm told), at least for the fronts. The test pads are supposed to arrive via UPS today. A friend is going to show me how to swap them out this week. I'll also put some temperature-indicating paint on the rotors to track the temps they're seeing.
I joined BIRA a month ago. I'm also interested in the rotor upgrade they have developed -- the Coleman replirotors. Those rotors and track pads seem to give a great solution for tracking the S4 at about half the cost of StopTechs.
