Default Problem with B1S2 (pass side, rear) o2 Sensor. Semi-long description inside - Advice Appreciated!

The code:

17526 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S2: Open Circuit

I was told recently that I had oil leaking from cam adjuster gasket onto the exhaust. I shed a tear when they gave me an estimate to fix it, and decided to hold off temporarily.

1. Could these two be related being that the oil is apparently leaking onto the exhaust?

2. Regardless, does this mean the B1S2 o2 sensor is kaput, or can I clear code and pray?

I have STFA and learned it could be a wiring issue and/or cat issue?

Thanks as usual to the always helpful AW community

Default Unrelated. The cam tensioner gasket set isn't that difficult to replace...

What was the quote?

The sensor is likely dead.

Stealership quoted me @ $1520, independent shop @ over $1000. Look elsewhere? Thanks again.

Default Im pretty low on the skill level (in regards to wrencing on S4's) and I was able to DoItMyself in

only a few hours. The parts cost less than $35.

Good news. What parts did you need besides the new o2 sensor? Did you go with a V dub o2?
