Default PZero Neros - any good in the snow

Bought the S4 a couple of weeks ago and it came with a good set of PZero Nero M&S rubber.

I plan on driving up to the PA mountains a bunch this winter - Should I get Nokians or something, or are the Neros fine for snow driving.

thanks,
-B

Default Aren't those "no season" tires? If so, winter tires would work much better.

Invest in a decent set of winter rubber, and you'll be much happier and safer.

Default good high performance all-season tire...

got fairly good ratings for snow (7.5 - middle of the range for excellent) although not as good as a snow tire.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2Ftires.jsp%3FtireMake%3D Pirelli%26amp%3BtireModel%3DPZero%2BNero%2BM%2526S %26amp%3BvehicleSearch%3Dtrue%26amp%3Bpartnum%3D34 5WR70NMS%26amp%3BfromCompare1%3Dyes">PZeroNeroM&am p;S ratin

Default Probably ok for flatland driving if you're careful.

Looking at the tread pattern on tirerack, I'd rather have something else if I was on a snowy downhill with a turn at the bottom..

I had an older set of pirelli high performance all seasons (pictured below) on another car, crested a hill one night at 5 mph, sped up to ~20mph at the bottom, nothing I could do about it, full abs, threshhold braking, didn't matter. Ordered my first set of snow tires the next morning.

Default I tried mine in the snow last year.....

When the tires were brand new, not great but useable then again after having LM-22's as a frame of reference thats not exactly a fair comparison. If you going into the mtns, get snow tires...

Default The snow tires will pay for themselves with the !st accident you ...

don't have. Your P Zeros tread life will also be longer because you will be on the winter tires. I'd go with the winter tires.

Default I have neros and michelin alpin snows... last year I never swapped em over: Neros are quite good...

in the white stuff I have the M/S variants though. Oh, and they do well in the dry too... not S03 quick in transition, but can keep up well enough

Best part: Quietest tires I have ever owned.
