Default Question about ABS pump.....I switched out my old brake fluid....

yesterday with Motul 600.....

I went to run the ABS pump using VAG-COM to get the old fluid out of there too.

I followed the instructions I found on here on how to activate the pump using VAG tool - anyway, when I entered '002' in the appropriate box and hit 'GO' - nothing happened. I thought the ABS pump was supposed to run for ~10 seconds...did I do something wrong? Could my ABS be broken?

I only ask if my ABS is possibly messed up because I tried a panic stop to activate the ABS and could not get it to activate...I guess the only problem is that is was nice and dry and the car stopped so fast without locking the brakes that I almost flew out of my seat!

I did not have any codes at all and no ABS light on my dash is lit up....

Any ideas?

Default

if ABS is bad, you'll get warning lights (ABS, CE maybe), and you'll get front wheel lockup

Default That's what I thought - I guess my "panic" stop was not enough of a panic stop.....

Is this the Ryan from Stasis by any chance?

Asking because if it is, the pedal feel is perfect after changing the fluid and I had a huge amount of air come out of the passenger side front caliper - weird it was in that one particular caliper. Thanks for the advice on the brake fluid thing.

If this is not the Ryan from Stasis then, uh, I guess go change your brake fluid if your pedal feel is soft - it works to fix that problem.

You only have to run the ABS pump is you have ESP.

Default It should pump... I had a printout with directions last time I did it, though...

and they were wrong. I followed the directions in the Bentley A6 manual, and that worked, though. Unfortunately off the top of my head, I don't remember what it was.
