quick question re: motor mounts and valve cover gaskets....Is stock motor mount juice purple?.......
Also, how bad is it to continue driving the car with leaking valve cover gaskets?
My low oil light went on today - 2nd time in 123,000miles. I put the car up on a lift and found some oil on the drivers side lower IC hose - looks like the leak is coming from the valve cover gasket. Providing I watch my oil level closely and get it taken care of in the next month or so, is this OK? It's not leaking enough to cause drips.
Also noticed some dark puple-ish juice which appears to be coming from the passenger side motor mount. Are motor mounts filled with purple goo?

If its the thickest nastiest stuff you've ever seen leak from a car, it's prolly mount juice...
You can try tigtening the valve cover during the interim if you're confident its the gasket. Go 1/4 turn or so and see if that helps control it.
No problem driving on it solong as you're vigilant on the oil level.

don't do like I did if you replace the gaskets
I replaced the valve cover gaskets not knowing about the rubber seals around the cam switches. I should've replaced those seals at the same time.

thanks, on second look, it seems I have two oil leaks - one coming from the drivers.......
side, dripping down on the driver's side lower IC hose and the other coming from the passenger side. That side seems to be dripping down on the motor mount. Looks purple, but on closer inspection, it's oil and not smelly.

I don't think I took many of the valve cover, it's very easy
I did it while the engine was out for stage 3 install. The toughest part would be getting things out of the way to pull the covers upward enough to clear the long mounting studs. All you do is remove a bunch of nuts from the studs and pull the cover off.
