Review of ASP's Stage 4 Clutch Kit (inside and kinda long)
For those of you that have recently requested a review, and for those of you that have been wondering how well it works and how close to stock it feels, I've finally decided to post up a review.
First things first, let's describe this kit, shall we?
ASP Stage 4 Clutch Kit consists of the following:
Full-Face, Sprung, Feramic Clutch Disc (Luk)
RS4 Pressure Plate (Luk)
New Throwout Bearing
Clutch Alignment Tool
For my install, I used a resurfaced stock flywheel. Thanks Dave (DaveD4) for helping me get out of a tight situation by supplying me with a freshly resurfaced stocker.
After driving the car with the new clutch in for only a few days (approx. 30-40 miles) I could already tell that this new clutch feels very similar to stock in both pedal pressure, engagement, and overall feel.
Of course, being that it is an RS4 PP, it is a tad stiffer, but really it's barely noticeable when compared to the stock S4 PP. The engagement point as compared to the stock clutch is very similar, and since the RS4 PP retains the SAC mechanism, I'm sure the engagement point will remain at a good spot. Not too low, not too high.
Upon engagement, this clutch is surprisingly easy to modulate. Considering it can hold upwards of 500-550ft-lbs of TQ, I was pleasantly surprised.
I did notice that, when starting from a dead stop, it can be a bit more jittery if the RPMs are very low (<1200). But then again, any new clutch probably feels that way.
I guess the only other point to cover is grabbing power. I can't attest to the holding power yet because I was only Stage 2 until my turbos took a poop. However, the grabbing power of this clutch is amazing. I can launch at any RPM and it will instantly grab and spin all four tires enough to smoke them.
I only have about 7-8k miles on it so far, so we will see how it does once my car is back up and running with at least Stage 3 ASP power.
If anyone has any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

Also, for the record: This clutch kit is practically identical to the VAST Ceramic Hybrid, as well
what No Flywheel : Jason is using. (RS4 PP + SoutBend Feramic Disc)
