RNS-E - Question for those who have, are considering or have passed on it due to the gaps.(editted)
I have yet to see an RNS-E installed in a B5, in person. The gaps on the side exist...any gap at all..meaning if the trim on hazard surround doesn't line up with the face plate on the NAV perfectly, it is unacceptable for me. If there were a way to remedy the side gaps on a B5 install, would you pursue it? Please respond in the subject line...
A - I own an "E" unit and have no issue with the side gaps..I wouldn't change a thing.
B - I own an "E" unit and would pay for a remedy if it were OEM correct and eliminated the side gaps.
C - I don't own an "E" unit because of the gaps, but I would buy it if a remedy were available.
If you answer either B or C, how much would you realistically be willing to pay for an OEM correct remedy if one were avalable??
The gaps are a primary reason I have skipped...

A / You don't notice the gaps in person.
My roommate (an M3 guy) noticed that my red-orange boost gauge did not quite match the red interior lights (and I can barely notice the difference), but has never commented on the gaps on the sides.

I disagree completely - the gaps are VERY noticeable. The unit is awesome but there are gaps....
I have the old D version and locve the way it fits perfectly.
The E looks good but I certainly wouldn't say you don't notice it.
The problem is, if the owner of the car notices it, that is all that matters - it would drive me nuts.
