side was really bad, and driver's; not so much. The car seems to be in alignment, drives straight, wheel straight, so I find this strange. Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas for the cause?

Default toe, IIRC.

after I had a hard hit and bent a wheel, my alignment was knocked out but it didn't affect the steering feel at all. I'd say an alignment will cure you.

Check your control arms as they may be failing.

Or Tie Rod Ends. Or alignment just needs to be done.

My TREs crapped out and showed similar wear... Side note: how often should you rotate your tires?

Default You mean like this?...

A lot of people complain of this problem. I've seen it on several S4s. This is mine when I ran 225/40R18 Toyo T1S on my 18" OZ wheels. I saw it on a car with Kumho Ecstas and DTMs (?). Others too...

Default Exactly, you need an adjustable control arm kit to tweak the wheels back out if you're lowered.

CPP, KMAC, one of those kits would fix that. If you are not lowered it is likely from failing upper control arms.
