Hello Neighbors.

Although those front-page polls are riveting in their own right (gee-whiz! do you own an AVANT or a SEDAN?!?!?!?) here's another one.

The S4 is an expensive car. I am wondering how many people here have the horses to go along with their S4 ranch? (yeah, 250 of them. I know ;-)

Put another way, are the S4 payments making you "car poor", or are you wealthy enough to swing it easily?

A wise woman once told me not to buy a car that cost > 1/2 my annual salary. I'd love to buy an S4, but by the above rule I should be looking at mercury cougars.

So who here has violated the 1/2 rule?

I put a large amount of principal into a preferred equity that yields more than 9% interest and cannot be called on before 2005. That interest is what's making my car payments.

S4 < 1/3 annual income. Lease. Never invest in depreciating assets. Opportunity cost WAY too high
