Default Short-shifter spacer mod is no joke.
After installing a Strat. SS for a friend, I was impressed by how smooth it was. I had heard of the Tanoga spacer mod and the Strat came with spacers, so I decided to dig around my hardware bins and see if I could find 4 nuts the correct size. After installing (duct tape rules), and going from 30% to 40% on my UUC, I was very impressed at how much smoother the shifts were. Anyone who hasn't done this needs to.

is there validity to this? anyone? smoother than stock?

Default I don't remember what stock was like, but spacers do offer much improvement...
I did mine yesterday and am very happy with it

No, I just added fout 5/16 hex nuts as spacers to my UUC

Check RS4.org for instructions. 4 spacers go under the brass-color rails
