smartass lincoln LS owner...needs a V8
while driving home last night on the highway, a silver lincoln LS pulls right up beside me. i'm in the middle lane and he's on the right. there's no one in front of us so i'm wondering why he's just tagging along beside me. an 1/8 of a mile and he's still there. i move over into the left lane. he decides to move into the middle lane. i speed up a little and he does the same. i'm annoyed at this point and just slow down to a creepy 45 mph (below the posted 55 speed limit). guess he got the message that i wasn't going to do anything and took off.
as is the case for every drive home, i speed up once i get to my familiar nice straightaway. moderate throttle and i'm doing 75 and just keep it there. lo and behold, the lincoln is not too far away, middle lane just below a dip. i pass him w/o even acknowledging any wish to race, just minding my own business when he decides to try and take me on. i slow down once i see him coming up. he's at my side again except he's now in my blindspot. he's starting to **** me off. i'm in 6th and just floor it. he comes after me, i let go and i let him catch up, then i floor it again. one time i let him get ahead a half length and i gun it again. now i'm wondering, what a pitiful car that LS is that i'm toying with it in 6th gear - too lazy to even move into 5th let alone maybe even 3rd to really show what my car can do. i played with this tool for about a mile and then i just let him have it. didn't let go of the throttle and just hit a nice steamy 110 (windy too might i add as i usually try to keep the windows open whenever i can). i could tell he was trying to keep up but goodbye, domestic dweeb! He was just a shimmer of light in my rearview
now, has anyone dealt with one of these LS's? it had to have been the six cylinder. i was doing nothing but throttle. how pathetic.
anyway, what annoyed me was the fact that this guy probably thought he had some great sport sedan just b/c the damn thing won some awards. who was he kidding? too bad the guy didn't have an onboard camera to my car so that he could see i was messing with him the whole time in 6th gear! uh, derek bell, wanna lend me one? hehe.
btw, i never said 6th gear didn't pull like a mothaf**ka Pardon the foul language.

Re: smartass lincoln LS owner...needs a V8
I had the unfortunate luck of renting one of those beasts on a recent trip to Miami. I had no idea what was under the hood but it was fast! I finally opened the hood and couldn't believe they rented these tins with V8's. Anyway... this thing really hauls *** but you can feel its domestic genes in the handling. The car can easily top 130 if it doesn't have a limiter. If I was the guy in the LS I would not want to flirt with triple digit speeds in the heap. BTW... those awards are BS. I never pay attention to them.

Yes, Galati is doing really well, and Derek...
was great to chat with after the Charlotte event. He was just getting used to the car, but he loved the quattro and the infield at LMS was not wide enough for him to use the extra traction to get around folks.....<p>David Bishop

Although I would not buy one, I think it is a decent looking car. Their commercials DO kick ***.....
