Default So, is this the tea kettle I'm hearing?

Both yesterday and today my S4 made (several times) a brief screech/whistle at about tea kettle pitch while on the gas between 3K and 4K RPM. Both days, it happened when the car was fully warm and had been given the boot for a quick 60-100 mph blast in 4th(tip). The car has one month and 1700 miles on the clock, so I've only started mashing on the gas pedal recently. (Boy, is that fun!)

Is this the teakettle sound? If so, what happens next? Can further damage be prevented by prompt repair? Any words of wisdom regarding Carlsen P-A in Palo Alto? Inquiring minds want to know.

TIA-

Default that's the tea kettle sound...

no hard data to imply this leads to any other problem...it was THEORIZED that it was the sound from one of my wastegates but nothing was going to be done to the car until I got a completely different sound that was UNMISTAKEABLY the turbos.

I'd take it in so they document the problem, they won't know what to do and won't "fix" anything but if you have problems later you can show a history to the problem.

Default actually my 2000 did it too...

but not as loud as my 2001 and it never got worse which my 2001 DID.

At least one guy had his turbos changed and the tea kettle sound is still there so it MAY in fact BE some irritating, unexplainable but normal thing with SOME cars.

Default I know the other guy who is having this problem...

Has a 2K TIP.. new turbos and it's still there.

Problem is that they STILL can't find out what it is, and the dealer is still hunting.

One thing is for sure.. according to Audi... this is NOT normal.

NASA is right... get it to the dealer and have them note the milage and let them check it out.

This guy did.. and is possibly looking at a Lemon. Lemon Law takes into effect actual milage you used the car BEFORE the problem... thus get in in early. You may get 30K miles out of it, then whammo....

This way, you have documentation at a EARLY point in the ODO.
