Stupid radio tricks - new (?) development
Maybe this isn't news, but it's the first I've heard of it.
Like many other sufferers, I've got a radio in my S4 that changes frequencies by itself when the car is turned off. I've had the car since Oct. 99, and my dealer has just been blowing me off. He blames AoA - it's their fault, they don't care, etc.
I just spoke to Customer Relations at AoA. I was informed that the problem was software in the Y2K radio, which they think they've got fixed. The Customer Service Rep took my VIN #, and told me a new radio would be delivered to my dealership for me and that should solve the problem. AoA is supposed to call me back to confirm arrangements early next week.
Has anyone had this experience before? Or is Audi finally responding to the problem?

I still think it changes stuff when turned on, not off!
Although not an excuse for bad design, I've found that the only time my radio changes on it's own is when I start the car without first pausing with the key in the "on" position, that is, only when I stick the key in and turn it all the way to start in one motion.
My normal start is to put the key in, and turn to "on", then check the gas, etc. while fastening my seatbelt. Then I crank the engine. I've never had the radio jump in that situation. But nearly every time I'm in more of a hurry, and just crank the car at once, I get the frequency step problem.<p>Jim De Arras

Shut your radio off before turning off the engine
My radio has the same problem, but has yet to act up if I remember to turn it off. Annoying but better than having to play with all the settings each time I get in.
