I'd be interested in getting any thoughts you all may have.
Basically I either try to get it shipped out with the associated hassles, put it into storage for 1 to 2 years or get raped on a quick sale.
What should I do ?

Just a great job opportunity in Petrochem, I'm here on
a work visa, the parent company has gone bust and so I have to go. Options are to either go back to the UK or find something else. The UAE job is really my perfect job.
I will be taking bullet proof shreddies just in case !

may be of help to you guys considering one in the USA, they either get damn cold in the winter, actually it's just like sitting in a metal fridge or damn hot in the summer.

Well, Dubai is a shopping haven. They have awesome outdoor Karting, and such.
Big horse race there, big tennis tourney there, etc. They go all out to attract celebrities. The actual citizens of Dubai have it made (free salary, house, etc.).
I spent a few weeks there, while our ship was anchored in the port of Jebel-Ali. This was years ago, when I was in the Marine Corps. We would go to Dubai, and Abu Dhabi when on liberty. Food was OK, shopping OK, and roads were in perfect condition (like Kuwait). I'd get pretty bored there if I had to stay for a long time. I remember a Mexican style restaurant in Dubai called Poncho Villas. They had this little guy that stood four feet tall, sporting a huge sombrero and poncho. After a couple beers, that little guy sure looked pretty funny.
There's a good outdoor Karting track near Dubai. Check that out, it was a blast. We did a full two-hour enduro with a four man team (pit signs and all).
You can hop a plane to the Seychelles islands for a Jimmy Buffet type vacation if needed. Now that place is cool...
