The install insn't too bad, but getting it adjusted properly is somewhat difficult.

Default just did it last night. first time and took about

1 1/2 hours. the hardest part was reconnecting the bottom of the shifter to the tranny linkage. i kept putting that top plate on and it kept slipping off. arghh!!

excellent instructions with pictures can be found on rs4.org.

adjusting wasn't too bad. mark the position of the top 6mm hex bolt before you take your stock shifter apart and note carefully the orientation of the stock lever once the **** and boot is off.

it's not straight up in either the front-to-back or side-to-side planes.

one person recommended measuring from the tip of the lever to the corners of the console opening for some nice triangulation, but i just eyeballed it.

it's similar to stock for notchiness, but of course a bit worse with the lower mechanical advantage. i found one setting that was soooopppeer smooth, but then i couldn't get into reverse!! damn.

Default Install is not difficult at all. It will take you about an hour the first time [m]

Adjustment will take another 10-15 minutes. Make sure the bottom screws are tight. My friends came loose from a powershift. Best of Luck.

Perhaps, but I do have quite a few short-shifter installs under my belt.

Default Just make sure you have the right tools.

Including a magnetic pick up tool for the bits you WILL eventually drop into never never land.
