Default I noticed talk of 997 turbos before w/ the Variable Vain tech. Has anyone done anything like an RS6

hybrid w/ the variable vains? Thought it may be interesting and help with quicker spooling on the RS6's...

Default Ok. It was stage 3, APR software. Daily driver I believe. So, if that is the case,

then couldn't I essentialy buy a rebuild kit with new bearings and seals, along with the shafts? IIRC, I can get the shafts from Audspeed for $95 each. The seller said they have a little shaft play.

Default The 997 hybrids do not have variable vane.

Variable vane is on the turbine side not compressor side.

I don't see how you could do variable vane on RS6's without some just making new turbo's all together. The variable vane in the turbine housing requires a housing designed around the adjustable vane system.

Default not a good idea imho .. that is why borg sells the cores for a "rebuilt"

CORE (aka chra from garrett) = the entire rotating assembly put together by the factory and balanced to spec.

Default correct. The K04/997's are just K04 housings machined slightly to fit the 997 ET compressor

ala..
