Default To have each turbo completely rebuilt, with new CHRA, 997 wheels and turbine clipping

runs about $895 each.

Default You mean you can buy that whole unit balanced and everything and just replace

it on the used turbos? how much do those cost each?

Default Yeah, that's pretty decent. So what do you think about this? Since I will be

doing all the work myself, and have already done a turbo swap on my car already, what if I ran the used K04s until they went, and then replaced them? Because it doesn't really matter to me if I have to pull the engine again to replace the CHRA's. It seems to make more sense to me to get the most out of them I can don't you think, if down time and labor isn't costing me anything? Plus, I won't be running them real hard for a while, because I am just going to be slowly piecing together parts for fueling and stuff. Can I homebrew it on mine? APR stage 2+ software? Could I install a 5 bar FPR, MBC and TCD and lemmitweak it?

Default yay! im respectable :) yea trying to work out the economics of used k04s

its pretty tough because the big concern is when will they blow? do u just assume they are already blown because you dont want them to blow 2k miles after install?

audspeed has new CHRAs for $900, maybe they can be had cheaper somewhere else. this means that "blown" turbos at $1000 + 900 = $1900 for new turbos, but then u have to install them ... so thats not that much savings ... so used/blown k04s are worth even less?

unless you want to risk putting them in ur car to see how long they last, and rebuild them again once they do blow<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RS4-k04-25-k04-26-CHRA-Center-Assembly-Original-KKK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 QQcategoryZ33742QQihZ010QQitemZ200193324586QQrdZ1Q QsspagenameZWD1V">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RS4-k

Default Yeah, I dont know I guess. It seems that the costs of rebuilding them are darn near the same as

just buying brand new ones?

I was quoted $650-1000 ea; although mine were exactly what Nigel said due to compressor hitting
