For those of you who have tested the new A4 3.0, what do you think if it compare to 330i? Powerwise

The 4-cylinder Altima out performs the V6 Passat and the 6-cylinder is as fast in a straight line as a 330ci (if not faster).

that piddly-*** 200 or 225hp is where 4-cylinder econo cars are moving.

or are you just mentioning how much HPs are going up all over the place? I just stopped working for Nissan last month actually. We all know HP isn't everything, especially in FWD. I honestly hope the new Z is as great as expected although it won't be replacing my modded 90' 300ZXTT.

and though it's not a great handling car in stock form (well thats not true, it's a very good handling car with the not-greatest steering in the world)...you HAVE to respect the fact that a car which is an Accord and Camry competitor has better acceleration than a $35-40k German performance sedan AND is offered in a 5-speed.

He asked about the A4 3.0 vs. 330i power and I think it's laughable that mid $20k family cars are quickly outpacing cars in that price range in horsepower AND acceleration given the emphasis on those attributes in performance discussions.

Yeah, but the around town torque probably isn't there. HP is only part of the picture.

I was smoked by a Cadillac sedan (one of the bigger ones) with, I presume, the Northstar V8 some months ago.. I was not really prepared to go for broke on a 2 lane to 1 lane traffic light situation, and was amazed by the speed of 5,000 lbs of steel. It really is across the board that all mfgrs have increased output and performance.

Makes you wonder what the next step for the Porsched/Ferraris/etc.. is going to be.. or are they simply going to go the luxury/vanity route...
