Transmission swap in B5 S4
#25
There is also "Import Performance Transmission" They can build
the TIP trans also. They are cheaper than L10 but claim basically the same thing. Look them up on the net for information.

Do you have the parts for a 6 spd conversion? I am contemplating this issue right now.
What would the cost be? If it is close to the L10 cost, I will go 6 spd. I didn't see an e-mail link on your site. Can you e-mail me the particulars?

Comparing apples to apples it would cost you MUCH more to do 6 speed.
The L10 set up is a fully rebuilt unit ready to install and capable of handling the power. Also fully factory integrated into your car.
The 6 speed swap is a bit of a hack job. Plus you have to buy a trans, get a new one, rebuilt one, or a junk yard one and have it rebuilt and upgraded to not burn through syncros etc. HP clutch, short shifter.
To get it to fit may require. (I am not sure, but speculating on possibilities)
-Rear differential to match the 6 speed final drive ratio.
-transfer case (if it is not included with the 6 speed purchase)
-Rear drive shaft (length may be different)
-Front shafts may be different lengths
-Wiring,(maybe whole harness) and getting the car to recognize the 6 speed instead of the tip.
-Vaccuum hoses and pumps on the engine are different.
-Down pipes are different. (not sure if you can keep yours)
-May need a new ECM for the car.
-Shifter/shift surround, clutch hardware, pedals, steering wheel/airbag.
The intercoolers and radiator are different (but you can use those to cool the 6 speed)
Cross member to mount it on.
ESP?
Not sure what else. Probably easier to just buy a new car.
