Yes, most dealers will not use synthetic oil at the services.....
...as AoA won't reimburse them for the cost (I believe). I supplied my own oil (Mobil-1 0w-40) at my 5k service.

Well, some answers . . . .
can be found here:
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/392256.phtml">Oil Info 1</a>
and here:
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/455989.phtml">Oil Info 2</a>
I use 0W-40 Mobil 1 because Andy does. ;-P
<b>You need to switch to 0W-30 or 0W-40 before winter!</b>
Hope this helps!

I would use 0w-40, but I'm biased........
....I will be changine mine every 5,000 miles. I personally feel like 3,000 miles is over-kill with synthetic, but if it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, go for it.
I've never seen 0w-40 offered online, go to the link below to locate a Mobil oil distributor in your area, as most normal consumer stores do not yet stock this weight (0w-30 is easier to locate in auto parts stores, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc.)<ul><li><a href="http://www.exxonmobil.com/channelpartners/">Mobil Oil Distributor Locator</a></li></ul>

0W-30 synthetic, like Mobil 1 or Amsoil, should be fine.
This <a href="http://www.mobil1.com/products/trisynth/index.jsp">Mobil 1</a> web page has eStore choices, as well as a <a href="http://clients.mapquest.com/mobil1/mqlocator?link=find&site=mobil1"><b>physical location-finding engine</b></a> that displays eStore links!.

Had a long talk with Red Line Oil... (long)
About the difference between Mobile 1 0W40 and Red Line 5W30. Basically, the differnce between a 0 and 5 weight oil doesn't become apparent until -10F. Additionally, Red Line is based on polyol esters (the same used to make jet engine lubricants) as its base stock. So the 5W30 runs like most other synthetic 10W40 at extreme high temps. I used Red Line to great success in my e30 M3 and e36 M3. My father has also run Red Line with success in his Porsche 993tt.
I think most people will be well served by whatever premium oil they choose to use. Mobiel 1 is a very good product, but I have seen an increase in gas mileage and a decrease in turbo lag on my S4 since I switched to Red Line from Mobile 1 0W40. Also keep in mind these are just the observations of one user.
