The Whole 9 on RS4 clutch install.
My car is coming up on its 40K service (clutch replacement) and so I would like to have them put int eh RS4 clutch, right now i'm just thinking i need the pressure plate and the disc, but I'm sure there are a few hidden costs... what are they, and how much are they? I searched and found nothing on extra items i would need. Please help :-)

Re: The Whole 9 on RS4 clutch install.
So wait, my clutch is DEAD, but i'm going to have to pay for the labor even if they install a factory S4 clutch? That doesnt seem right... I was hoping they could just substitute the RS4 clutch (that I buy) instead of the S4 clutch.

Your original post makes it look like you think a new clutch is covered at the 40k
service. you didn't say your original is toast. if they are going to put one in anyway (warranty) then yes, you can give them the parts (RS4) and they should not ask you for any labor money. HTH.

Potential problem with RS4 clutch on the S4......
The problem is that the slave cylinder on the S4 will be strained by having to work with a much stiffer pressure plate leading to premature failure. I was alluded to this problem when I called Adrenalin Motorsports to set up the install. They had a customer who had his slave cylinder fail 3 times with the RS4 pressue plate. One option, I suppose, is to use the grippier RS4 disc, with the S4 pressure plate. If anyone has personal experience withthe RS4 clutch, I would appreciate your input as well.

RS4 uses the S4 clutch disc. As for the failed slave cylinders I have to wonder about the installer.
If I was installing and had a worry I'd just use the RS4 slave cylinder, if the part numbers are even different now. A new one shouldn't fail, it'd be like brand new brakes failing because you used both feet to really clamp down. I could understand old parts failing, but not three new ones in a row, something isn't right.

Clutch finally toasted tow truck on the way. On the bright side RS4 clutch will be in car sooner :-)
