X Post friend needs some help finding a 1.8t motor.
He has a 1998 1.8t and he called me last night and said a rod went through his block a few weeks ago. I thought he was kidding. He said he is unable to find a new block. Does anyone know where I could help him look for one? He is located in south Jersey but is willing to travel to PA, NY, DE, MD. Any help would be great.
And please no dumb Newark NJ jokes.

I've got a block if he wants to buy a block.
Came from a A4 with a busted timing belt. I'm keeping the crank though. He can have the rods and dinged pistons if he wants.

Here is what he told me last night.
He told me about a month ago he drove though some water and his motor would not start. So he had it towed to where he gets his work done. They determeind the motor was hydrolocked and got it to work again. HE said the car was driving fine but seemed alot slower then all of a sudden he was driving down the road and he heard a loud noise and pulled over got out and there was oil everywhere. He had just gotten his oil changed earier in the day so he though something fell off until he saw the nice hole in his motor.
This is all what he told me. Sounds a little unbelievable to me but who knows. I have not talked to him in like 5 months so I really have no clue what has happened. I do think he is chipped and has exhaust but that is about as far as his mods go.

You mean like this?
The story said that this was not an uncommon occurrence with 1.8t motors. And was the reason Audi increased the cylinder wall thickness on the bi-turbo motor. Hence the 2.7 vs 2.8 displacement. FWIW.
