Xenon bulb replacement help

My brother in California (I'm in Tennessee)is having problem removing the xenon headlight bulb from a 01 S4. It is the side nearest the air box. Is there a special procedure for this or is it possible for these bulbs to become stuck. I've never replaced a xenon headlight bulb. Thank you for the help.

Usually, I just take out the entire head lamp assembly when I need to work on the lamps. The clerances can be a bit tight and alignment can become tweeked.
