Default I need your help to get my car fixed!

Hi- I have a 2016 S6 with 92k miles on it. I've done all my regular maintenance with Audi over the years and the car is terrific shape. A couple of months ago, I noticed that when coming to a complete stop with the car (say, at a red light) the RPM's would rev a little bit and the car would try and buck forward. Now since my foot was firmly on the brake pedal, the car didn't go anywhere. I ignored the issue for a little bit, but it didn't go away. Bring the car to a full stop- and watch the RPM needle do a couple little jumps. If the RPM revs were very subtle, I would continue to ignore it, but the revs were high enough that passengers noticed the car try and lurch forward at stops.

I dropped the car off at my Audi dealership in North NJ on August 3. Nearly 2 months later, they have not been able to fix the problem. Initially the diagnosis was bad PCV valve. So they replaced that. Didn't fix the issue. The dealership spoke to Audi and were told to replace the turbos. They replaced the turbos, but it did not fix the issue. After several other attempts to fix, again the dealership spoke to Audi. This time Audi said to stop all work, this condition is normal for my vehicle. Can you imagine? How is this normal for ANY vehicle?

This is where I need your help. I need a proof refuting Audi's claims that this is a normal condition for this car. Specifically, any car with Audi engine code "CTGE"- which covers most S6 and S7 4.0 Turbo model years 2014-2018.

Since the dealership doesn't see a lot S6 or S7 4.0 turbos in this model year range, they can't make the case. If someone out there could send me a quick video of them driving their car and coming to a stop, with the camera pointed at the Tach and Speedometer. Plus proof of being in the right vehicle which I suppose would be the VIN, but if you are a real stud, a vehicle sticker showing the engine code (i think located both on the engine itself (difficult) or in the spare tire bay (easier)). I would be very grateful for someone's assistance on this.

Please reach out to me privately through my user name here and I can tell you how to get the video to me. Thanks!

Sorry, it is NOT normal, but I have no way to help you with proof.
It sounds to me like a transmission issue though.

2nd transmission issue. sounds like it's the downshift from 2nd to 1st. When you stop QUICKLY, does it still happen? vs very slowly crawling to a stop?

Some posters and private messages have suggested the downshift issue. To be honest, the dealer has had the car for nearly 8 weeks, I can't recall whether a quick stop or a slow stop triggered it, but I really do think it was both.

A couple of things with the downshift theory: first- after driving this car for 7 years and 92k miles, this has never happened. I know what a downshift RPM jump looks and feels like. Definitely not that. Second- it was happening just after the car had actually stopped. Like, come to a stop, feel the car's momentum stop, and then the RPMS and the car tries to move forward. By the way, never just a single rev of RPM, but always 2 to 3 quick jumps of the needle.

I suspect flywheel or clutch. It sounds like you need someone who knows what they are doing to look into the transmission.

I would get it back from the dealer (they've had 8 weeks to diagnose and fit it) and take it to a reputable transmission specialist who really knows the VAG DSG gearbox. Dealers will often take the easy option of replacing the transmission at huge cost to the customer when the issue can be solved much cheaper by someone who knows what they are doing.

I have an S7, and look around this thread to see if anything with the engine and Trans or other common share parts or functions are being had on these cars.

Some of your symptoms reminds me of my S7. Do you recall any hard shifts with the transmission, especially 3rd and 4th gear? It took a long time fornus to finally get the dreaded message, transmission malfunction.

Audi shop told me, needs a new transmission. I told them they were full of it. Owning and building enough cars I suspected a clutch disc.

These trans is not a standard clutch disc, but a several clutch dics creating a clutch pack.

Took back to my indy shop, we ordered a set of SSP clutch disc's.

We replace the clutch disc's in the clutch pack.

Viola. All good and runs better than ever before, and now Trans clutch is rated for 700hp for future upgrades.

But seriously, took almost a year for that dreamed transmission failure message. Had the Trans software rest several times. Fluid flush. Mechtonics. The works.

Still all cheaper than a Trans.

Just a thought maybe...?
