Default Oil caked inside turbo inlet. What could be the cause?

Car is under warranty, so I am not concerned about cost. Is this likely a seal issue or something requiring a turbo replacement?

The Oil seperator (PCV) sends the blowby gases into only one of the turbo inlets, so one of them gets the residual oil.

If you your car is older, you may want to consider replacing the Oil seperator (PCV) plus the turbo oil supply screen & check valve. There is a TSB for the earlier models on this. But even some of the newer cars have needed replacement.

From ssp 920223 4.0TT engine self study:

OK

While true, the OP's picture with the oil in it is of the short intake tube where there is no PCV connections. I'd be worried an oil seal was about to go but I don't really know for sure.

If the turbo oil seal is leaking, it may be due the wobbly turbo bearings, which may mean turbo replacement.
