S6 vs A6 typical maintenance cost differences?
Still debating whether to get a CPO S6 or A6 3.0T. My heart tells me S6 and my wallet tells me A6.
From a standard maintenance cost perspective, does the S6 cost a lot more to maintain, considering more cylinders and overall greater complexity? What are some big ticket items on an S6 that need regular servicing/replacement that you would not have to do on an A6?
For example, what is the typical cost of DCT trans fluid change and how often does it need to be done?
How long does the S6 air suspension typically last?

I've been told that the air suspension is typically good for at least 100,000 miles. Electronics for both cars are similar (unless you have the Comfort Seat option, in which case there's more movable air bladders for the massage function). The front brakes on the S6 will be significantly pricier (even just parts if you're a DIYer). DCT flush is expensive and it's called for at 35K, 75K and every 40K thereafter. For obvious reasons, the V8TT will cost more to service. Not only are there 33% more parts needing changing (spark plugs, coil packs, etc.) but the engine compartment is very tight. Often-times, the front bumper, radiator and associated hardware need to be removed in order to access some components. Also, the hot-V configuration (turbo in the center V) means that the intake manifolds will have to be removed in order to access the spark plugs, coil packs and the like.
The S6 is a great car but it will cost more to own. If you decide on one, it won't be because the dollars and cents make sense. For me, the A6 just wasn't the car I wanted.

Having just taken my S6 in to get a few small things fixed at the dealer and left in a A6 loaner I cant tell you how much I miss my S6. In so many ways even though this car is 3 years newer.

+1 to this... I have an A5 loaner, that 2.0T sounds like a blender (i'd imagine the 3.0 is not as bad, but still... that v8). I also miss that air suspension and those massaging seats...although i guess you can get the latter in the A6. I'm not sure that I miss the DCT
