2011 A4 Quattro - Cooling Fans Not Working?
Hey all,
I did some searching prior to this, but haven't been able to turn up any useful threads.
No codes. Car started blowing hot air from the AC, intermittently, a while back. Never really knew what it was, besides that it didn't happen on the highway. My girlfriend once drove up a curb (which created a sudden jolt) that kicked the AC back on suddenly. At the time, I didn't consider that the problem may be the cooling fans. Tonight, however, after a short drive, the car began to overheat (first time). I get it home, pop the hood, and see that neither radiator fan is on, although one keeps "trying" to switch on by rotating a few turns, dying, stopping, and then repeating.
Before noticing that, I checked the 15A F11 fuse in the drivers' side engine compartment fuse box, which appeared intact. I swapped it just to be safe.
Am I correct in assessing that any fuses/relays are OK, and it's likely a fan motor controller or the fans themselves? Anyone have a DIY for the 2011 year on this one? Is this going to cost me a kidney?
Thanks!

If you unplug the connector of the fan motor and hot ire it to the battery does the fan run. If it runs then you have to look up stream. Is there a thermos type switch in the radiator . Check the fans 1st

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't reach the fan connector as it appears to be on the bottom of the fan shroud. I'll need to get it up on stands to do so, I presume? If it's just 12V, I'll try wiring it to the battery and see what happens. I'll report back tomorrow.
