Buyer Beware. Avoid Whitehouse Auto for Tire/wheel mount. Rt 22 west NJ
Before I shipped my all season tires to Whitehouse I spoke with the owner John and asked if he would assure me that no scratches would be made. He became defensive and said "look i have a reputable shop and touchless equipment. I have had only one issue ever with a customer wheel and replaced it with new!" So i shipped them. Big mistake!
After picking up my car the tire pressure warning was on. Before I left John the owner said it is normal and it take time for the VW GTI computer to recalibrate. I trusted him and drove home. The warning light never went away so i drove to the gas station and checked the tire pressure. they were 32psi. So after filling them to the OEM spec of 35psi, the warning light went away in about 10 seconds.
When I got home I noticed a very deep scratch on 2 spokes which were perfect in circumference and smaller radius of the wheel on the passenger rear.
At first John was very accommodating. He promised to have someone fix it. But he used someone who doesn't know what they were doing and now the damage is worse. There is now a new deep lacquer chip and the original scratch, while less visible, is still there. I wrote him an email with attached photos of 1st time damage and 2nd time damage and he is claiming the new lacquer chip was there originally. I have close up photos of my wheel after the 1st incident and that chip was not there. In addition he claims to have had some wheel guy from Fairfield NJ come with his truck/van who sanded my wheels and reapplied the lacquer. Now there is bubbling on my 18" VW premium wheels!!!
I am not going to go to small claims court because this is too much trouble already for a simple routine tire mount and balance. But i am warning anyone here who cares about their wheels, do not go to Whitehouse Auto, part of the Liberty Gas station on Route 22 Westbound. Pictures of damage below:
