Default EBC Brakes - I'm impressed

Had a look at the brakes today (i didn't have a problem with them so i didn't bother looking after the track day) and there black!

Ok, so there black, big deal right? Well the thing is they are EBC Green Stuff Pads!

The original pads and rotors gave up too quickly under heavy braking (frieghtening stuff when racing through a national park in the wee hours of the morning, trees and rockfaces don't offer too much of a run off zone) So i upgradded to EBC Slotted Rotors and Green Stuff Pads with the odd track day in mind.

They worked so well at the track the Quattro System still worked under heavy repetitive braking, lap after lap.

They worked so well in fact that they reached temperatures hot enough to burn the Green Stuff Paint from the pads!

Bigger Brakes are in order though when they were out though (i believe stopping is more important than top end speed) so your Austrlian input is appreciated.

Would it be worth importing the brakes form the U.S of A like the porche kit or would it be best to buy local (Like supporting the little Aussie Guys)?

its just Australia does not really support Tunning for the Audi.

Thanks for your time and input.

Default EBC brakes - Im definately NOT impressed

I had EBC green stuff pads and hated them - they squeeled like a stuck pig, offered poor performance and were over priced. I couldnt wait to get them off the car.

I decided to get some serious braking performance and imported a Stoptech Kit from the US. Kit cost was $2000 US dollars and we are talking SERIOUS stopping power.

There was nothing available locally that appealed to me at the time - although there are a few new kits around using Porsche parts that look ok.

At Phillip Island Race Track I had no brake fade at all after 18 hot laps with the Stoptech's.

Stoptech Big Brake Kits

Default You should talk to Euroclass

They are doing Porsche Boxster kits and some bigger AP racing kits locally.

Default EBC compared to OEM is a astonishing difference, but then if you have the means...

First i must have the wheels to fit the brakes under, then i can buy some big anchors (Read: endless saving for car mods).

Thinking of joining BIRA.org and getting one of the porsche kits on the site, that is if it is competitive with what is locally available.

Lots more saving to go i guess =(

It will be a couple of years before i am up to Worx A4 level but i'll get there.

http://www.bira.org/</a
