2001 A6 - window control lockout button stuck in "lockout" mode

Hi,

While driving with the family today and I noticed that the window lockout button is stuck in "lockout" mode.

When I press it and hold it the passengers could operate their windows but when I let go it immediately goes back to "lockout" mode.

Pressing it causes the "lockout" light to go out but when I let go the "lockout" image (the window with an X through it) stays lit.

Any ideas?

Replace the driver's window switches.

I thought there was a fix for this....I'm pretty sure I've seen a post on how to fix it and you took the lockout switch apart to do something fairly simple...not that I can find it now however :0

The part from a vw passat works doesnt it? Least I think thats what the shop used in my A6 because I got a vw box back.

I posted a fix some years ago..should be in the archives

Basically you take apart the window switch to get at the springs under the button. However a new unit is only about 40 bucks if I remember correctly.
