Default Facelift front end retrofit

Hey guys,

Ive had my '12 A7 since new and just rear ended some one. Grill bumper hood and lights all need to be replaced. Do you think it is possible to swap all the parts out for the facelift versions? And do you think it would be a good or bad idea to do so.

Thanks!

I think that this is a great idea since insurance will cover most of the cost. If your body shop is willing to play ball to do this, it could be reasonable to do. I bet mechanically it is easy but there may have to be electrical boxes and firmware that may need to be carefuly done by someone who knows what is involved.

There may be a lot more involved than what appears at first sight. I would be awfully careful in mixing newer pieces with the old base. It will be both a mechanical and electronic issue (greatly dependent on what options are on the car).

Good luck getting your insurance provider to agree to this.

The insurance company isn't the problem. They pay to repair/replace/repaint the damaged parts. Everything over and above is paid for by the owner.

The problems start if the new parts don't fit. The front fenders and staying and there's no way of knowing if the hood and bumper cover will be able to be mounted and fit the older version. I'm not saying that they won't fit, chances are pretty good that they will but there is a risk.

I would just upgrade to the RS7 front bumper, but that is just me.

Hi mate I’m planning to do the same to mine as my front ends gone, how did it go for you? Did you need to replace the slam panel or anything?
