Cant decide between Motorola HF850 and IFH1000 bluetooth car kit..
I am still trying to decided between the two car kits... has any one used either one of these car kits, and advice?
I should be able to hook up the kit to use the car's speakers right?
Also, does anyone know where I can get it installed in the DC area?

Highly recommend you test the kit with your phone before installing IHF1000
I put one in my RS6 only to yank it out a week later because it did not work correctly with my phone. (pairing issues mostly) Suprising because I am using a Moto Mpx220 which was supposed to work with the "advanced features" of the moto kit. Absolutely no support from Moto on this either. I would not buy one of thier kits again. Luckily the shop that installed the kit guaranteed it, so they removed it at no charge. What a headache though.

Hmmm very strange... We have paired a Mpx220 with the 1000
and had it working fine. We also recommend customers test before committing to a system. I'm highly surprised the installer didn't test prior to install.
We have had a number of customers call us to complain about their motorola phones pairing with kits only to find out that they were using the device pairing mode and not the handsfree mode (2 seperate items for moto phones). After they used the correcct mode they were fine.
I have the ihf 1000 in my allroad and it has worked with a number of different handsets. As for BlackBerry any 4.1 OS version should be fine.

It woud pair initially fine, but when car turned off, it would not automatically re-pair.
We tried several other phones (moto, nokia, samsung) which all worked perfectly with the 1000 kit. We also tried 3 different Mpx220's which all showed same pairing problems.

Wow that's too bad. The ihf 1000 is really a great kit. I wonder
which rev the car kit was? Moreover I wonder why my employee's mpx220 was working (and reconnecting) and your test units did not.

Not sure on the version of the kit - it was the first one the dealer had got in.
And on the phones, we actually had 2 different Mpx220 ROM's so I am pretty sure it was not the phones. Again, it worked perfectly with non-pda type of phones. If they corrected the problem, I would look at it again, but have been exploring the Audi system to put with my RNS-E I installed first.
