FWIW, if my 95 S6 sits at a stop light on a hot day some sensor shuts off the A/C ..It is some safety feature or so I have been told!

First off--thank you ALL so much for your help! I've learned so much about my Audi. haha. I'm more familiar with older model Mercedes--so this is new to me.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure based on the error codes that it's the high/low pressure valve.

I was trying to locate it on my car... and I have a clear view of the compressor etc... but I can't seem to figure out where the valve is. Is this something I can replace myself or should I have this done professionally? I don't have a problem recharging the system if I need to.

Don't know where the switch is located on the TT

I know enough to be dangerous with A/C so I always have someone else do the actual work ;-)

High pressure sensor is on the high pressure line down by the condensor in front of the car.

The high pressure line is the test and fill line for professional AC shops like Audi. Dont mess with the high pressure sensor nor try to fill on the high pressure side.

Low pressure sensor is up by the firewall on the low pressure AC line. Some models do not have a low pressure sensor. but they will have the M14 threading and shrader valve for it.
Its also possible to fill an Audi system from the low pressure sensor port if you short the sensor while its disconnected and thread on a standard R134A valve that has been adapted to metric. BTDT
