Two plates or one?
got pulled over today and given a ticket for not having a front license plate on my car. I've heard that Texas now only requires one plate, but cannot find it anywhere that says so. Anyone have a link where I can read up on it? Just wanted a little more info before I go to the courthouse. TIA!

Until November 1st, its two plates.
After that, the next time you renew your registration after 11/1/05 you can have one front plate.
IE, Law goes into effect, 11/1 but your registration isnt done again till October of 06. You must have two plates till 10/06 and after renewing your registration you can have one.

If it's from House Bill 3540, that bill is not law...
...it never made it out of conference committee before the legislative session expired. If you know of a bill that was enrolled as legislation to this effect, please state which bill that was.<ul><li><a href="http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/cgi-bin/db2www/tlo/billhist/actions.d2w/report?LEG=79&SESS=R&CHAMBER=H&BILLTYP E=B&BILLSUFFIX=03540&SORT=Asc">Legislative action summary for HB3540</a></li></ul>
