"New" TT
Hello all,
Well, finally decided to buy a TT! Took delivery on Saturday & have been lamenting that I didn't do it sooner (FH2O looked like a great event and it's near Pittsburgh...great city).
So I justified the purchase after all of the glowing recommendations and the help folks give here. Also decided that I really should just quit waffling and enjoy life a bit.
So it's a lightly used (3k mi) 2001 TTQC Denim Blue/DB w/ H&R coilovers.
Since I'm in Chicago land, I'm wondering what kind of clearance difference is there between the H&R's & the stock suspension (have the original parts). Here there are some low curbs one must drive over to turn left.
I haven't been able to find the max/min adjust range for the H&R's, or a website for them. Any pointers?
TIA,
Dale
ps. I have a smile on my face every time I walk into the garage, see it parked, or (the best part) driving it. Just a couple of complaints though, roads in Chicago are too straight, and speed limits are too low!
pps. Did anyone ever figure out how to attach the Motorola TimePort (similar to a StarTAC)? I don't know if the microphone, speaker/wiring, etc. are all installed with a "no-phone" car.

Speed limits too low in Chicago!! What! How fast do *you* drive? I don't think so!...
I just came throught there, out and back from Somerset.
Westbound traffic up Hwy. 65, around the loop to 90-94 west, Sunday nite was a CART race!
Holy smokes, I was getting passsed up by rice-rockets, Caddies, and even mini-vans, doin' 85-95.
I shook my head at the Windstar that swereved around me as I was in the fast lane. He was doin' 85 with a mini-spare on his left rear!
I tried to keep it down to 80, as that seemed to be the norm.
I think some of these people were way out there.

Well, actually the limits are too low...45 down in the loop for the Kennedy. 55 for the rest of the freeways.
But you're right, everyone's pretty much pushing 70-80 easily. Just the car seems to want to go a bit faster (keep in mind I was driving a Truck at 70-75 before
I'm also keeping it abt. 80, but doing the math, that's almost 30mph over the limit! With the info from here, I'm expecting to be much more visible & likely to get caught (haven't gotten a ticket or even pulled over yet in 12yrs driving, no point in knocking on wood
My major complaint is the surface streets, it's common for a 4 lane rd with minimal cross traffic to be 35mph.

That's actually unusual for 90/94 (more)
90/94 is usually 65-70mph average when there's light traffic. Heavy traffic, of course, puts you at around 5-15mph.
The more south/west you go, the faster the average is. My daily drive to and from work puts me averaging around 70-80mph while on the tollways. This is I88 and I294, both of which tend to be fairly light traffic when not in rush hour. I'm suprised you saw traffic going that fast in 90/94. What time of day was it, and what day of week?

Sunday's raceday in Chicago...(more)
Traffic's light, and people here drive abt. as fast as conditions will allow (or the cops will tolerate
FYI, it totally depends on time of year...later in the yr, you'd have gotten into stop & go traffic down near Indiana (I go back & forth to MI quite a bit, mtn biking thing here in Northern IL is pretty lackluster).
