Default 1st gear misfire? ESP burp? WTF?!

So, the car was FINALLY running great for a few weeks... And now another ghost has found its way into the machine.

In first gear -- and ONLY first gear -- under WOT conditions and regardless of whether the ESP is on or off the car hiccups between 4 and 5K rpm. It feels like the ESP is kicking in, but it's off (does exactly the same thing when it's on).

There aren't any misfire codes, and the A/F gauge doesn't indicate anything strange.

In all other gears, everything is fine. In fact, it only happens in first about 60% of the time.

Any ideas? Or is it just another demon that will have to be excorcised?

And it knows it's being a jackass -- just look at that devilish grin on its face!

Thanks. Unfortunately, the car *does* seem to be evil.

I get the same hiccup, all the time in 1st. I've learned to ignore it.
