Default AM Radio whine fixed for only $1100 + labor...

I took my '01 225 TTQC in for the AM radio whine. They ordered a kit from Audi that was a ground wire from the Haldex to the chassis, as some have had luck with here.

Unfortunately, it made no difference.

Only <i>after</i> they ordered and installed the ground would the Audi Tech Line tell them about a new Haldex controller that would fix the problem.

They ordered it shipped overnight, installed it today and <i>Voila!</i> - <b>perfect</b> AM reception (or at least as good as in my wife's 98.5 A4.)

Of course it was all covered under warranty, but I asked my service rep how much Audi charged for a Haldex controller out of curiosity.

$1100.

No wonder the tech line makes dealers try the ground wire kit <b>first</b>...

Happy ending all around, though, except perhaps for Audi. ;-)

Default Got the ground fix today - didn't fix the problem for me either

Thanks for the post! I'll run this by my Houston dealer.

Default Actually, it was Stammler...

Absolutely wonderful to deal with, as is usual in my experience.

Be sure to ask for service rep Mike Weiss; he makes <b>all</b> the difference in the service experience (in other words, he <i>cares</i>.)

Default The part number for the Haldex controller is apparently superceded in the database by the new one...

That's one way they knew it was a new design; it had a different part number and you can now only order the new part number from the depot...

Default Maybe that's what I'll get...

A couple weeks ago I got the ground fix, and it cleared up the morse code, but introduced a whine that rises and falls with the engine revs. Now they're waiting on the tech line for the next fix.

I wonder if there any other improvements in the new Haldex controller.

Default AM Radio morse code problem fixed!

Mentioned the Haldex controller solution to Momentum Audi (Houston) after the ground solution failed. Momentum replaced the Haldex controller as BillK mentioned. It Worked! My AM radio sounds great! My car feels more responsive too..probably just feeling good about the radio. Thanks Momentum for the next day service!
