Default Try the Sony DCR-PC110.

My brother-in-law has one. the built quality is excellent. It also has a built-in memory stick slot for taking 1280x1024 still photos. The only drawback is that it doesn't work well in low lighting condition. If you want a slight water down verion, try the Sony DCR-PC9. I have one and it's pretty good. It has most of the feature that the PC110 has, except PC9 only takes 640x480 still pictures. I bought one this past Janury for about $900, not a bad price. You can read the review of different cameras here:

http://electronics.cnet.com/electronics/0-6733264-8-6261190-1.html?tag=st.ce.1429209.top5.2645842-8-6261190</a
