Re: Huge Mark-ups on TT
I haven't received that type of offer, but I didn't buy my NM TT to sell it. However, I was told that fair market value for that car was $50,000. That sounds high to me, but it depends on what the market will bear. I don't think that the "standard" TT that the fellow is selling in the Dupont Resistry is worth (or will fetch) anything close to his asking price of $49,500.

Re: Huge Mark-ups on TT
My car is not for sale. A friend had mentioned to the salesperson at this particular dealership that he know someone getting the NM TT. The salesperson wrangled my name and place of employment from my friend and the salesperson telephoned me at work with the offer. This is the same dealership that had a used Mercedes CLK 320 on the floor for $56K (fully loaded this car stickers at $45K). Remember that a lot of dumb traders from Board of Trade or the Mercantile Exchange live near downtown Chicago. They will buy virtually anything at any price during a good day and be living on lower Wacker Drive the next.

Re: Huge Mark-ups on TT
As a car enthusiast I dislike mindless mark ups like this. I am glad most of you feel the same way but there are always a few others who drive up prices without basis. Remember the $22K Miatas when they had MSRP for $11K or the people who paid $90-120K for NSX with MSRP of $60K.

$49,500-- Is that it?
The $49,500 asking price is legitimate. If you call the pager number, Racer Rob, I will call you back, not Jim B. Anyway, many people want this car, and the waiting list is long. I do not appreciate you insulting my intelligence, Racer Rob, as I have bought and sold new cars many times and have made quite a bit of money. The $49,500 asking price probably is too low.
