Default auto shift **** removal??

Wanted to know if anybody knows how to remove the shift **** for an auto tranny. Searched the forum but it only talks about the removal of the manual *****. I think I will do the tip mod by supremepowerparts so that I could replace my know to something better. thanks

Default I took the auto shifter off of my 2001 jetta once (don't remember why) but it wasnt too hard, lots

of pulling and prying. This is what I remember off the top of my head: The first thing you want to do is push down on the plastic covering over the shifters stick, then pull(or was it push!?) the button on the shifter really hard, and then pull up really hard on it while doing all of this. Try not to whack yourself in the face when it flies off...I am pretty sure I did.
